Now that you’ve found and documented all the pieces of your travel mug, it’s time to clean each and every one of them. Grab your dish soap and a clean sponge to get started. Now, gently scrub all parts of your mug with dish soap and warm water. Using smaller scouring pads is essential for removing hidden odors, so make sure a cleaning tool touches the entire surface of each small piece.
Once you’re done scrubbing, let the mug dry completely on a drying rack. You can also use a microfiber cloth to dry the mug. Repeat this process several times a month or more if you use the cup daily.
If you’ve scrubbed as much as you can and the smell still lingers, not all hope is lost. Now it’s time for you to use vinegar and baking soda.
