A field of 30,000 athletes participated in the 127th run of the Boston Marathon, which covered 26.2 miles from Hopkinton to Boston. However, it seems that some of the runners will have to wait several days or weeks to receive their participation medal. The BAA confirmed late Monday that some marathon runners who crossed the finish line towards the end of the race did not receive a finisher’s medallion. “The BAA is aware that some finalists after approximately 5:15 p.m. did not receive a finalist medallion,” said a written statement from a media spokesperson. “We have begun reaching out to the affected athletes and will ensure medals are awarded to finishers as quickly as possible. The BAA congratulates all of the finishers in this year’s race.” Participants the WCVB spoke to said the BAA told them they would receive their Medals in the mail.
