India connects Tripura organic fruits and vegetables with global buyers

The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), together with the Tripura State Organic Farming Development Agency and the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, organised an International Organic Buyer-Seller Meet in Agartala, Tripura, to connect organic fruit and vegetable producers with international buyers.

Around 200 participants attended, including more than 20 international buyers from Australia, New Zealand, Germany, Italy, Greece, and Argentina, along with exporters, farmers, Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs), and government officials.

The event showcased Tripura’s organic fruit and vegetable products, including Queen Pineapple, organic ginger, organic turmeric, jackfruit, and scented lemon. The displays allowed international buyers to review products and discuss sourcing requirements with producers and exporters.

The meet provided a platform for discussions on market requirements, sourcing opportunities, and potential business linkages between Tripura’s fruit and vegetable producers and international buyers.

Agriculture Minister Ratan Lal Nath said, “Tripura’s farmers are producing quality organic products with strong potential in domestic and international markets. Connecting our farmers and FPOs directly with international buyers can create new opportunities for better market access and income generation. The Government of Tripura will continue to support initiatives that strengthen organic farming and enable our farmers to benefit from emerging global opportunities.”

APEDA continues to work with state governments, FPOs, exporters, and other stakeholders on certification support, capacity building, infrastructure development, market promotion, and international buyer linkages for India’s organic exports.
