India-Pakistan should hold Kashmir talks honestly, says Farooq Abdullah | Indian News – India Times

SRINAGAR: President of the National Conference (NC) Farooq Abdullah said on Saturday that promoting cross-border tourism or holding rallies in Jammu and cashmere it’s just a tamasha that will continue to India and Pakistan hold honest conversations on the issue of Kashmir.

“The hearts of both countries must be pure. There has been enough bragging,” said the srinagar parliamentarian he told reporters here when asked if the situation in Kashmir has changed as cross-border tourism is promoted and Tiranga rallies are organized across the valley.
India and Pakistan should speak with pure intentions as wars do not solve anything, Abdullah said.

“Until both countries speak honestly about the Kashmir issue, this is all fluff (and) this tamasha will continue until then. It will happen every year, but the problem will remain there,” he said.
Raising questions about the government’s claims of normalcy in Jammu and Kashmir, the NC Chairman asked if there is peace in Jammu and Kashmir then why is there terrorism, why are bullets being fired and soldiers and people being killed.
“If there is actually peace, why is this happening? That is because they (Pakistan) think it has not been resolved yet. Who will make them understand that only talks will solve the problems?” Abdullah asked.
One can see in Ukraine what war does, he said.
“Europe is being destroyed economically. Who is being killed? It’s the people of Ukraine. What will they achieve? Would they change the borders?
“So both countries (India and Pakistan) should keep in mind that war will not achieve anything and only talks will solve the problems, as they (Indian government) are talking with China. There have been 18 rounds of talks and the talks have also taken place at the level of foreign ministers,” he said.
When asked about the Jammu and Kashmir administration promoting cross-border tourism in many places near the Line of Control (LoC), Abdullah said: “We want the borders to be opened so that we also see the (Kashmiri) part of it. that is under them (Pakistan). Then, we will accept that there is a real peace.”
