India Says Qatar Freed Eight Ex-navy Personnel

However Indian media have reported that the lads — amongst them former high-ranking and embellished officers, together with captains who as soon as commanded warships — have been arrested in Doha in August 2022.

The Hindu newspaper reported the lads have been spying for a “third nation”, whereas the Instances of India has stated that “varied studies claimed they have been accused of spying for Israel”.

On Monday, New Delhi stated the lads had all been launched.

“The Authorities of India welcomes the discharge of eight Indian nationals working for the Dahra International firm who have been detained in Qatar,” the overseas ministry stated in a press release.

“Seven out of the eight of them have returned to India,” it added, thanking Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani for the choice “to allow the discharge and homecoming” of the detainees.
