Teasing out the two teams and the players on display, he added: “And when you look at the Pakistan team, they have a lot of talent. But one thing that stands out to me is that he also has experience. Now that they have the combination of experience and talent, they are a real threat. They can match India with their pace of bowling; They have genuine pace on their side, and the only problem I see they may have is the depth in quality of their hitting that India has. So that will be the interesting pressure they will put on people like Babar Azam at the top of the order.”

When asked which player he thinks poses the biggest threat to Indian hitting, Moody wouldn’t hesitate to name: “Shaheen Afridi. Final point. I just think Shaheen Afridi with the new ball is a great threat, as he has historically been. Pierced with that new ball, he manages to knock down a couple of early wickets, which then opens up the middle order for India to revive things. Particularly for a middle order that hasn’t had a lot of playing time.”
India and Pakistan face Nepal in Group A of the Asian Cup, while Sri Lanka, which co-hosts the tournament with Pakistan, sits with Bangladesh and Afghanistan in Group B.
