In a tragic incident, an Indian origin woman passed away after boarding a Qantas Airways flight in Melbourne, Australia.
As per reports, the 24 year old Manpreet Kaur was due to meet her family back home in India when the tragedy occurred. She boarded the Qantas flight on June 20 though after the boarding procedure, she fell ill.
Excited to meet her family after over four years, Manpreet wasn’t feeling well and had issues in putting on her seatbelt. Soon after, she collapsed on the floor of the flight and passed away on the spot, as reported by news.com.au.
Since the flight hadn’t taken off, the cabin crew and emergency services stationed at the airport rushed in to help Manpreet. According to Herald Sun, she reportedly died due to tuberculosis which is an infectious disease affecting the lungs primarily.
Manpreet moved to Australia in March 2020 and was bound to visit her family in New Delhi for the first time in four years.
The Qantas flight, in a statement to Daily Mail said, “Our thoughts are with her family and loved ones,” adding that emergency assistance was immediately provided to Manpreet after she collapsed.
Manpreet’s friend Gurdip Grewal launched a GoFundMe page in order to help her family. In a message on the page, Gurdip wrote, “Our dear friend Manpreet left us too soon, leaving a void in our lives that can never be filled. As we grieve her passing, we want to come together to honor her memory and support her family in their time of need.”
As per latest update on the GoFundMe page, the target set by Gurdip of $30,000 Australian Dollar (AUD) to help Manpreet’s family was accomplished with 824 donations and a total funds raised stood at $31,662 AUD.
