PESHAWAR: The Pakistani husband of a 34-year-old Indian mother, who traveled to a remote village in Pakistan marrying him, said Sunday that she is expected to return to India next month because she is “mentally disturbed and severely missing” her two children. Anju – now called Fatima After converting to Islam, he married his 29-year-old friend on July 25. Nasrullah, whose house is in the Upper Dir district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. They became friends on Facebook in 2019.
“Fatima (Anju) will return to India next month,” her husband Nasrullah told PTI over the phone.
“She is mentally disturbed and misses her children terribly and had no choice but to return,” Nasrullah said.
Anju was previously married to Arvind, who is in Rajasthan. They have a 15-year-old daughter and a six-year-old son.
He said he doesn’t want his mental health to deteriorate.
“It is better for her to travel to her country to meet her children,” he said.
She said that after completing the documentation process in Pakistan, she will return.
“It will take some time and probably next month she will travel to India,” he said, adding that she will also travel to India if she is granted a visa.
Anju and her husband were in Peshawar on a one-day visit for the first time since their marriage in August this year.
He has expressed a keen desire to see the ancestral homes of legendary Indian film actors like the late Dilip Kumar and Shahrukh Khan in Peshawar.
“I learned some Pashtun words. Before coming to Pakistan I had no idea I would be so famous here,” Anju said.
