Following a reference from the Minister for Trade and Science, the Hon Ed Husic MP, on 18 March 2024, the Home of Representatives Standing Committee on Trade, Science and Sources has commenced an inquiry into meals and beverage manufacturing in Australia.
The inquiry will take a look at alternatives for increasing innovation and value-adding within the meals and beverage manufacturing trade in Australia, with regard to:
- innovation traits and new applied sciences, each domestically and internationally;
- methods to help new and rising merchandise and industries, together with premium and area of interest merchandise, new proteins and Indigenous meals;
- alternatives throughout each home and export markets for Australian manufactured merchandise, together with shifting client traits;
- approaches to round financial system, waste discount and decarbonising, together with packaging and meals waste;
- how the analysis sector can assist to develop this ecosystem;
- future workforce and abilities wants; and
- mechanisms for the Australian Authorities to help additional innovation and sustainable progress within the sector.
The Chair of the committee is Rob Mitchell MP, Australian Labor Occasion, whereas Deputy Chair is Hon Michelle Landry MP from Liberal Nationwide Occasion of Queensland. The committee has requested for written submissions addressing any or all the inquiry phrases of reference to be submitted by Wednesday, 1 Might 2024.
