Intellasia East Asia News – Court documents on protest anthem ban uploaded to government websites for public reading

On Wednesday, the government, pursuant to the court order, uploaded the relevant legal documents regarding its request for a court order to ban the public from playing a protest song.

This comes after the Department of Justice applied to the Court of First Instance last Monday (June 5) for injunctions to prohibit four kinds of acts related to the song “Glory to Hong Kong”. After which, the judge asked the government to post the court papers, Chinese and English versions of the injunction press releases on the government, police, and DOJ websites for public access.

Copies of the subpoena order, injunction summons, and court order related to the government’s request have been uploaded to the above-mentioned websites.

It added that anyone who opposes the injunction request must arrive at the Wan Chai division briefing room on or before next Wednesday (June 21) and submit their reasons for opposition in writing within seven days.

The injunction seeks to prevent any person with criminal intent from transmitting, performing, printing, publishing, selling, offering for sale, distributing, broadcasting, displaying, or reproducing the song in any way, including on the Internet.

The next hearing will begin on July 21 and may last three hours.
