Intellasia East Asia News – Dry and warm weather in Singapore for rest of January with temperatures as high as 34°C

Prepare for very dry and warm weather for the second half of January unlike the very wet and cool weather in the past fortnight.

The daily maximum temperatures in the coming fortnight are expected to range between 32°C and 33°C on most days, with highs of around 34°C on a few days, said the Meteorological Service Singapore (MSS).

The forecast comes after sustained heavy downpours in early January and last weekend, with the mercury level hitting lows of 21°C to 22°C in some parts of Singapore early in the year.

In the second fortnight of January, short-duration thundery showers can be expected mostly in the afternoon over parts of the island on some days.

While rainfall for the second half of January is expected to be below normal, the overall rainfall for the month is forecast to be well above-normal due to the “exceptionally wet weather” in the first half of January, according to the MSS.

The daily temperatures are forecast to range between 24°C and 33°C in the next fortnight.

“It is expected to be warm with daily maximum temperatures of around 34°C on days with little or no rain and when winds are light,” the MSS said.
