The latest survey released on Friday found that half of the respondents oppose setting up polling stations at border points for voters in the Mainland to cast their votes.
The online survey was conducted by Hong Kong Public Opinion Research Institute between November 29 and Thursday. A total of 6,400 respondents completed the survey with a 7.2 percent response rate.
The Legislative Council election will be staged on December 19.
Results showed that 38 percent of respondents are in favour of setting up polling stations at border points. Ten percent of respondents chose the option of “half-half.â€
Yet, half of the respondents voiced objection to the arrangement.
Data also revealed 28 percent of respondents said they “definitely†won’t vote in the coming election, while 12 percent said they “probably†won’t.
On the other hand, 32 percent of respondents said they “definitely†will cast their votes, and 15 percent said they “probably†will do so.
Twelve percent of respondents have not yet decided, and two percent checked the box of “Don’t know/hard to say.â€
The survey found that 45 percent of respondents think there is no candidate in the geographical constituencies worthy of support, of which 86 percent are pro-democracy camp supporters.
Forty percent of respondents think there are candidates in the geographical constituencies worthy of support, of which 59 percent are non-pro-democracy camp supporters.
