Intellasia East Asia News – HK Airlines launches direct service to Phuket

As international travel recovers at a breakneck pace, Hong Kong Airlines has increased its flight capacity to meet growing demand.

In addition to its previously announced new Fukuoka service on April 7, 2023, the airline today announced four times weekly service between Hong Kong and Phuket starting June 16, 2023.

This move is aimed at strengthening and expanding connectivity between Hong Kong and regional destinations, thus facilitating a wider range of travel alternatives for passengers.

phuket

Phuket is located in the southern region of Thailand, bordering the Andaman Sea on the coast of the Indian Ocean.

As the largest island in Thailand, it attracts millions of tourists every year. Being one of the most popular leisure travel destinations in Thailand, Phuket offers a wide range of experiences.

For travelers, this usually means relaxing on sandy beaches, exploring local culture in the old town, and surfing on white-sand beaches, surrounded by stunning views of untouched nature.

Hong Kong Airlines continues to adjust its network strategies and the launch of the new service to Phuket will further leverage Hong Kong’s connectivity as a regional hub in Asia to meet international transit demand and travel needs in the Southeast Asia region.

The airline is gradually increasing its flight capacity in preparation for the upcoming summer holidays and peak travel season.

Hong Kong Airlines is committed to providing a comfortable, safe and convenient travel experience for passengers, whether they are traveling with family, friends or alone.

Thailand tourist market

Thailand is a major travel destination for Hong Kong residents. Thailand is a popular vacation destination among Hong Kongers, thanks to its proximity, warm climate, beautiful beaches, and rich cultural attractions.

According to the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), Hong Kong is one of the top 10 source markets for Thailand’s tourism industry. In 2019, more than 860,000 Hong Kong visitors traveled to Thailand, accounting for about 2 percent of all international visitors.

Visitors to Hong Kong are known for their high spending and long stays in Thailand, making them a significant segment of the country’s tourism market.

Thailand has been a popular destination for Hong Kong residents for many years, with direct flights from Hong Kong to Bangkok and other cities in Thailand operated by various airlines.

In addition, the two countries have a close relationship, with many cultural and commercial ties between them.

In 2018, the airline faced financial difficulties and underwent a restructuring process, which included cost-cutting measures and reduction of its route network.

It has been awarded the internationally acclaimed four-star rating by Skytrax since 2011.
