Intellasia East Asia News – More wet weather in next fortnight, temperatures may dip as low as 22ºC

Singapore can expect more wet weather in the second half of July, with temperatures dipping to as low as 22ºC on some days.

The Meteorological Service Singapore (MSS) said in an advisory on Thursday (16 July) that the next two weeks will likely see more rainfall than the first half of the month, with the overall rainfall for July 2020 forecast to be above average over most parts of Singapore.

“The monsoon rain band is forecast to remain over the equatorial Southeast Asia region in the next two weeks,” it said.

“This is expected to bring short-duration moderate to heavy thundery showers between the late morning and afternoon on many days, and may extend into the evening on a few of these days.”

MSS said that thundery showers are expected on a few nights, while widespread showers with gusty winds are also likely to occur in the morning on one or two days in the last week of July.

During the fortnight, the daily temperature is forecast to range between 24°C and 33°C. Although showers are expected on many days during this period, the daily maximum temperature could still reach a high of around 34°C on one or two days. Lows of around 22°C can be expected on a few rainy days.
