The Tokyo metropolitan government on Tuesday reported 3,357 new coronavirus cases, up 954 from Monday and down 1,691 from last Tuesday.
The number of infected people hospitalised with severe symptoms in Tokyo is 11, up one from Monday, health officials said. The nationwide figure is 160, down four from Monday.
Nationwide, the number of reported cases was 30,481. After Tokyo, the prefectures with the most cases were Osaka (3,318), Aichi (1,930), Fukuoka (1,856), Okinawa (1,761), Hokkaido (1,718), Hyogo (1,362), Chiba (1,035), Kanagawa (1,028), Saitama (1,021), Kyoto (746), Hiroshima (740), Kagoshima (704), Kumamoto (567), Shizuoka (544), Tochigi (499), Gifu (478), Gunma (444), Okayama (423), Nagano (415), Nagasaki (412), Ibaraki (407), Oita (391), Miyagi (389), Miyazaki (357), Fukushima (346), Kagawa (326), Akita (310), Aomori (296), Saga (294), Niigata (294), Ehime (272), Mie (265), Shiga (245), Iwate (212), Yamaguchi (210), Kochi (197) and Wakayama (176).
The number of coronavirus-related deaths reported nationwide was 55.
