Investigate financial dealings of solar scam judicial commission judge: Cong

The Congress-led UDF in Kerala on Saturday demanded an investigation into the financial dealings of Solar Scam Judicial Commission (RTD) judge G.Sivarajan.

UDF Coordinator and former State Minister MMHassan said that in his new book, CPI top leader and former State Minister C.Divakaran has said that Sivarajan had taken

Rs 4-5 crore and filed haphazard report in solar scam probe.

“This is a serious disclosure by a senior leftist political leader, C. Divakaran, and therefore we demand a proper investigation into this,” Hassan said.

By the way, the solar scam belonged to Saritha and her resident partner who were into selling solar panels and had raised huge sums of money from potential investors and it turned sour for Chandy, after it emerged that three of the members of his staff were close to his.

The then CPI(M) Secretary of State Pinarayi Vijayan and opposition leader VSAchuthanandan led a mass protest in 2013 and Chandy himself announced an investigation by Sivarajan.

And for the first time in Kerala’s history, a sitting Chief Minister sat for hours together on a few occasions to testify before the One Man Commission – Sivarajan.

Sivarajan continued his investigation and using this scam, the left won a stellar victory in the 2016 Assembly elections and, a year later, released his report indicting Chandy and several other top political leaders.

Using this report, Vijayan ordered a police investigation, which found nothing and then ordered a CBI investigation based on a complaint from Saritha, which also gave Chandy a clean note.

“We knew that this case had absolutely no merit and Chandy was being attacked by the left for political reasons and now this has been confirmed by no less than a senior leader of the left. We therefore demand a thorough investigation to look into the Sivarajan’s financial dealings,” Hassan said.
