TOKYO (Reuters) – Japan has issued a 1-metre tsunami warning for islands off the Izu Peninsula on the country’s east coast.
The warning followed an earthquake of preliminary magnitude 6.6 that occurred at 11 a.m. near Torishima Island, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency. The epicenter was in the Pacific Ocean, about 550 kilometers (340 miles) south of Tokyo.
