RSVP Movies has hit the right tone with many of their movies and has delivered exceptional cinema. One of the production company’s most important films is Jaswant Singh Khalra, which has been in the news for various reasons, and is coming to the big screen soon. The biopic starring Diljit Dosanjh and Arjun Rampal received the adult-only film certification and the CBFC has also asked the filmmakers to make more than 20 cuts, despite the A rating. Following this, the makers moved the cut on the decision of the CBFC.

In the latest development related to the film, it is reported that the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has given the film an A Certificate as the CBFC team found certain parts of the film fictionalized and dramatized which they did not like. The creators have also been suggested to make about 21 changes as recommended in the CBFC report, including the removal of certain dialogues, the film’s disclaimer, and its title.
In protest of the cuts and changes suggested by the CBFC, Ronnie Screwvala’s RSVP Movies appealed to the Bombay High Court under Section 5C of the Film Act, arguing that the cuts violated section 19(1) (a ) of the Indian Constitution. and that the cuts were not covered by article 5B of the Cinematographic Law and the procedure related to it will be attended on July 14, 2023, at 2:30 p.m. before the Hon. Judge RI Chagla.
A source close to the film revealed that the biopic was first submitted for certification last year, adding, “The film was initially submitted to the CBFC for certification in December 2022. However, the certification was slow and difficult. even after more than three months had passed, the CBFC was speechless. In May 2023, RSVP filed a lawsuit in the Bombay High Court seeking orders against the CBFC to decide the application for certification. The CBFC stated at the hearing that a decision on the certification of the film will be made before May 26, 2023. But it is still pending!
Directed by Honey Trehan, the film is based on the real life of the famous human rights activist Jaswant Singh Khalra. The biopic stars Diljit Dosanjh in the lead role while Arjun Rampal appears in a pivotal role in the upcoming release.
