La Liga president Javier Tebas has offered Barcelona hope of being able to bring in players by saying the club could return to the 1:1 rule.
Barcelona are hoping that will indeed be the case but are waiting to find out if it will be possible for the summer transfer window.
Tebas, who is in London for the Champions League final, spoke about Barca and offered up the following piece of information.
“If Barcelona close some important issues, they will be able to return to the 1:1 rule,” he told reporters.
“They know how Xavi’s departure affects them, they know how Flick’s arrival affects them and they have time to reach that situation.”
Barca are currently operating under the 1:4 rule but if they do get approval to return to the 1:1 they will be able to spend every euro they bring in.
That would be a huge boost to the club with Barca thought to be keen to bring in a top-level defensive pivot this summer.
