The Winnipeg Jets could be getting their captain back this week.
Blake Wheeler, who has been dealing with a concussion, was fully cleared to play this weekend, but because of changes to the Jets schedule, the team is keeping him on the sidelines for Saturday’s matchup against the Edmonton Oilers.
#NHLJets captain Blake Wheeler has been fully cleared to play, but HC Paul Maurice said the change in schedule and ability to get him into some practices with contact before returning were factors in holding him out vs #Oilers – he's likely to play vs @MapleLeafs next Thursday

Winnipeg head coach Paul Maurice explained that they would like to get Wheeler some full-contact practices before he makes his return to the lineup.
Even without their captain for the better part of April, the Jets have gained ground on the Toronto Maple Leafs for the North Division lead. The Jets currently just sit three points back of Toronto, both having played 44 games.
Wheeler has 10 goals and 22 assists in 39 games this season.
Expect the Jets’ captain to make his return to the ice for a pivotal matchup against the Maple Leafs on Thursday.
