A 60-year-old businessman from Juhu was arrested by the Mumbai Police Anti-Extortion Cell on Wednesday for allegedly causing Dawood Ibramin’s henchman Javed Chikna to call another businessman to demand money. The police identified the defendant as Zakir Hussain.
“The complainant in the case is a businessman from the city who imports items from Kuwait. Hussain had asked him in 2016 to make him a business partner. The latter ran a background check and, finding his background suspicious, refused to make Hussain a business partner,” an official said.
“In 2018, Hussain contacted him and claimed that he had suffered loss of Rs 1.5 crore because of him and demanded the money from him. The complainant refused,” the officer added. Police said that earlier this year, the whistleblower received a call from Javed Chikna, asking him to pay Hussain the money. The author then approached the police and a FIR TREE was registered at the Wadala police station.
