“You have to compare what we have spent with the other teams. We have not spent R1 on any player this season compared to what the opposition have spent,” said the four-time league winner.

“I always judge it that way and I think it’s a better reflection of how my small team has done this season. We played a lot of young guys at the beginning and we got some guys (on loan) so it balanced out pretty well because there were no funds to buy anybody and I knew that when I got here.”

Meanwhile, Amakhosi boss Arthur Zwane insists the season will be No be a failure if your team does not qualify for continental football.

“If (finishing third to qualify for the Confederation Cup) didn’t happen, it doesn’t mean it was a bad season overall. I think with the new team and also giving a lot of young people (opportunities), coming from our own development, it’s been a good season,” Zwane told the media.

When the teams last met, in September of last year, Kaizer Chiefs won 2-1.
