Kaizer Chiefs utility player Bernard Parker has reached a HUGE personal milestone as he enters his 11th season with the club.
Parker found the back of the net in Amakhosi’s MTN8 loss to Mamelodi Sundowns on Sunday afternoon.
As a result, Parker equalled Siphiwe Tshabalala’s record of 58 goals for Chiefs, consequently becoming the club’s all-time joint top goalscorer in the PSL era.
Parker had been sitting on 57 goals since his CAF Champions League goal against Wydad Casablanca on 3 April.
Now, with his goal against Sundowns, the underrated midfielder has undoubtedly cemented his legendary status at Chiefs.
Parker scored the 58 goals in 338 competitive matches for the Glamour Boys, while he has also registered 38 assists in the process.
With Tshabalala no longer with Chiefs, Parker has a chance to overtake his former teammate in the club’s goalscoring charts.
A BREAKDOWN OF PARKER’S GOALS
Parker has netted 45 goals in the league since arriving at Chiefs in 2011, and this includes a Lesley Manyathela Golden Boot award with 10 goals in 2014.
The 35-year-old has also netted 11 goals in domestic Cup competitions – the Nedbank Cup, MTN8 and Telkom Knockout Cup over the past decade.
Parker has two CAF Champions League goals to his name at Chiefs – a single strike in April as indicated earlier, and another during the 2016 edition.
