Kaizer Chiefs head coach Gavin Hunt has admitted that he is not going to make decisions on who will be signed and in which departments on his own.
In what is not going surprise many, Hunt said the final decision on the departments that need to be reinforced will be made in the boardroom with the relevant people.
However, he revealed nothing has been discussed so far, adding that the recruitment process will only begin after the final match of the current season.
“That will certainly be dealt with in the boardroom with the people that are relevant to that,” said Hunt in an interview with Robert Marawa on Radio2000.
“So, right now we are just trying to concentrate on each game. Nothing is being discussed along those lines,” he explained.
Chiefs have been linked with no less than 13 new players for the upcoming season, including Ruzaigh Gamildien, Njabulo Ngcobo and Leletu Skelem among others.
And Hunt feels the ongoing speculation on who is likely to be signed by Chiefs is creating disharmony within his squad.
Hunt said the most important thing for him and his current Chiefs is to finish the remaining 10 league games, concentrate on the CAF Champions League and see how far they can go.
“And every day you wake up you’re in the newspapers, and you are being linked with this player which is a little bit disturbing because it creates disharmony for me,” Hunt continued.
“Just looking at it, obviously, it’s right in your face but right now, nothing is being discussed and I think everybody is… we are all fighting for our lives in trying to get into next season on the good footing and that’s all we can do at this point in time,” concluded Hunt.
Chiefs have already secured the services of Phathutshedzo Nange for the new season but that deal was concluded in toward the end of 2020.
Amakhosi couldn’t register Nange because of the transfer ban.
