Kaizer Chiefs to still wield the axe? The 3 stars that could still leave

Kaizer Chiefs have, so far, parted ways with THIRTEEN players from last season while they have brought in nine new stars.

The Glamour Boys are still in need of a striker or two having been unable to find suitable replacements for both Samir Nurkovic and Leonardo Castro.

And while they are in the market for a quality striker, there are still possibilities of them parting ways with three more players before the closing of the transfer window on 22 September.

Should that happen, it would bring the number of players who would have left them to a whopping 16 in a single transfer window.

THE THREE PLAYERS THAT COULD STILL LEAVE KAIZER CHIEFS

ERICK MATHOHO

Mathoho has been with Chiefs for 10 years following his arrival from Bloemfontein Celtic in 2012, and he is one of the senior players in the team.

However, he appears to have fallen out of favour with the new technical team following the acquisition of Zitha Kwinika, and a section of Chiefs fans wants him gone.

Mathoho is yet to feature for Chiefs this season despite being injury free, and chances of him leaving could increase if he doesn’t get a chance to play before the closing of the transfer window.

AUSTIN DUBE

Dube only joined Chiefs at the start of last season from Richards Bay but he’s yet to cement his place in the team’s starting line-up.

Media reports have emerged that Dube’s former club Richards Bay FC are keen on having the left-footed centre-back on loan this season.

And that’s because Dube doesn’t seem to be in Arthur Zwane’s plans, perhaps because of the shaky first season he had with Chiefs.

HAPPY MASHIANE

Mashiane hasn’t been himself since being red-carded in the CAF Champions League final against Al Ahly in July 2021.

In his seven appearances for Chiefs last season, Mashiane didn’t really give the technical team anything to write home about.

Now, there are rumours that the 24-year-old left wing-back is keen on a loan move following the arrival of Edmilson Dove, and Swallows are reported to be interested in signing him.
