Kareem Hunt among the Chiefs’ options at RB after losing Isiah Pacheco to injury
Here’s what the Chiefs may do at running back after losing Isiah Pacheco to injury
Um All right. So I feel kind of the same way I felt last night after uh reviewing the tape, but, uh I thought our guys did uh some real good things and that there are some things we’ve gotta work on offensively. You gotta get rid of the turnovers and the penalties and uh defensively, we, we did some great things. Uh the field position at times wasn’t great. Uh But for the most part, we, we did some good things. We got to take away *** couple of the big plays and, and uh so *** couple of the third downs and we’ll be in *** good position. I thought special teams wise, we did *** pretty good job there. Uh Bucker had *** nice day and Ri had *** nice place. So I, I thought that was positive. Um As far, um as Pacheco goes, uh we, uh we go with the guys that we have here. Now, Veach is kind of going through his list and looking at people and we’ll just see where that, where that goes. Uh But we’ve, we, we’re blessed to have some uh good people here. Um And then, uh as far as the other injuries go, there’s really, uh, nothing to, uh, talk about and I don’t know, I don’t have *** time frame on, on Pacheco. Uh, but I, I know it will be this week and it’ll probably be, uh, more than, more than that. So, uh, obviously, but it, it’s gonna take *** little bit of time there anyways. With that time. Yours, we’ll go first to Adam Teicher. Go ahead, Adam. Hey, Andy, um Chuck, who got the ball? I think 25 times yesterday. Um Do you have *** back on your roster that is capable that you’re comfortable with? Um, given that kind of workload too. And Kelsey, I’ll have the second question as well. Well, on the backside haven’t had an opportunity to give it to him that, that much, uh, or *** couple of them so. Well, really all three of them, Adam, if you look at that. So, um I, I would, uh, tell you I have confidence in them. I just don’t, I haven’t experienced it with them. Ok. And I’m curious about *** decision you made yesterday. Um, first drive of the game, offensive drive of the game you got down there fourth and one, you went for it and got it and then you were fourth and one again, um, later on that drive and you kicked the field goal. Can you explain, uh, what you were thinking there? You know, we had, we had three good opportunities at it and, and didn’t get it and I just thought we had need to come out of there with points. And so I did that. Yeah, we’ll go next to Sam mcdowell. Sam. Hey, Andy. Um, what’s, what’s the message for, uh, for Kingsley this week? And what should be the takeaway as far as do you still envision he’ll be the starter this week? Yeah, I haven’t, I haven’t gotten that direction yet as far as the, the starter, not the starter, but he’s got, you know, he’s obviously got things he, he needs to work on and, and get worked out. Um, like I said, last night, I, I felt like we need to take *** step back, take *** step forward and, um, whether he’s in or out, I, I still think that was the right thing to do there and, and if he’s out this week, then it’d be the right thing to, to do, uh, with that. But, um, so, but I still, uh, we haven’t lost confidence in him and, and that he, he was going against *** good player and he’s got to learn from it. Um I think he, he mentioned that to you that he’s just, he’s got to take it in and, and get better. And I would tell you that with some of our young guys that, that played last night, they, they, they’ve got just, uh, um, you gotta learn from the experiences that they, they get in these games. We’ll go next to Jessie. No, Jessie Andy. Um, Clyde obviously has remained around the team the last few weeks. I just wondered what is his status that relates to potentially returning in week five? Yeah, there’s ***, there are, that’s part of the equation. So we’re gonna just kind of figure all of that out and, and see how all that fits in. But, um, yeah, we, we know he’s around. so that’s, uh, we just don’t have him available here for, for *** couple more weeks here. So, yeah, we’ll go next to CN Petro CN. I can’t hear you. Yep. Sorry, coach, um, Travis Kelsey, I know, uh, you know, you don’t have *** big day every day and it’s maybe magnified when it happens at the start. But, um, I know we had *** big play called back that would have made the numbers look better, obviously. But, um, is, is he the teams doing anything different to kind of try to take him away? Yeah, they, uh, they did have some things that they, they were attempting there, um, and he’ll get, he’ll get his catches. It’s not, he’s slowing down or any of that bit. That’s not what the deal is. So it’s just, uh, teams focus on him and kind of know he’s the, uh, he’s been Pat’s go to guy. So, uh, what it’s done though, Serena has allowed us to, um, you know, to utilize the other guys around him and, and, and they’ve, they’ve been productive. We go next to Pete Sweeney, Pete. Hey, coach, we, we’ve asked you about Carson Steele quite *** bit throughout, you know, preseason and we know you’re high on him. Now, the frame of reference has changed *** little bit. What’s your confidence level that he could be in the mix to handle, you know, of what would be *** full workload in the absence of Isaiah. Yeah. Well, he’s gonna have to step it up there. Um, and, and, uh, in that role. So, um, uh, but I think he’s, he, he likes to be challenged and I think, uh this will be ***, *** good challenge for him. He’s obviously I keep the ball high and tight. Um, uh, he had the, the fumble yesterday and he, he hasn’t been, he doesn’t have *** history of that. So it’s, uh, he’s gotta make sure he learns from that. We have three more for you. We’ll start with Nick Jacobs and Kelsey. I’ll have *** follow up if I can please, Andy for your guys and some of those goal line situations and short yardage. How beneficial was it for the offensive line to kind of get some of those opportunities to really kind of move some people off the ball. Yeah, I thought li listen, I thought all day they did it, they, they, uh, they really, I thought played well, um, in the run game, part of it. And, uh, and then they took advantage of the short yardage with the exception of down there in that, that goal line stand that they had there. So, uh, but everything else I thought was, was very win at halftime, averaging seven yards *** carry. So, uh that part was good. It, it, uh, you know, and so, uh we, we, we’ve got to build on that though. We, we still had it. There were *** couple of issues here and there in the past game, it wasn’t just Kingsley. There’s, there are other guys involved too. Kingsley’s was more magnified. There were more of them, but it wasn’t, uh there were other breakdowns that we had. So we’ve got to make sure we tighten that up *** little bit and with the defensive coordinator like Lou Anna Romo just kinda, what was it yesterday? That kind of kept you guessing? Yeah. Lou does *** ni nice job with, with things. Um So, um you know, he, he, he tried to throw *** few different looks at us. So we’ve, you know, we were able to gain *** lot of yards, which was good. We’ll go next to Matt Derek. Matt. Hey, coach *** couple of quick questions for you. One. How much consideration did you give to trying that 68 yard field goal before the end of the first half? Yeah, for about *** second. And then I’ve got out of that one. I, I figured, listen, we’re getting the ball back to the second, the second half. We, we were receiving it. So I, uh, I didn’t want to have something, something happened there with *** block. Sometimes those low trajectory and all of *** sudden there’s *** block that takes place and it’s on the opposite way and we didn’t need that at that point. And two on the, you know, I, I know Patrick, you, you trust Patrick Mones Officer, certainly. But was there anything we saw at the interceptions yesterday that you felt like were some, you know, just learning points for him? Yeah. So, you know, we had the route, the, the first one there was an option route with Hand Ks and, and they, they played, they played ***, you know, we really had to pull up on part of the option, part of it. It was ***, it was kind of *** right. There was *** little confusion. So, uh, between the two of them and, and, um, that, uh, yeah, that’s, we were late with the ball so that, that’s what happened. We’ll take care of that. I, I can, I can take care of that part. That’s, that’s *** and then, uh, the de throw, I thought that guy made *** great play but again, young receiver there and he’ll, he’ll learn that either he gets it or nobody gets it, but I gotta give that kid credit too. Last one here will go to Todd Libo coach, uh, you know, Isaiah got that looks like pretty rough news yesterday. He’s pretty emotional in the locker room. If you talk to him today. How’s he doing? Spirits wise. I know that the, the physical injury is one thing but, uh, got to attack the thing with your, your mind too. How’s he doing now? With that part of it? Yeah. So, well, he’s been with the doctor so I, I haven’t seen him today but I, I talked to him twice yesterday last night. And, um, so, uh, I, I think he’s in *** better place. Uh, that, that’s tough. I, um, I was talking to some kids that, that came over to our house after, after the game and, and I said, you know, sometimes you guys get emotional after you lose *** game and I said, you don’t ever want to lose that. I mean, here’s *** guy that, that’s an, uh, *** guy that loves to play the game. And so he, you know, he had tears, he was emotional but you don’t ever wanna lose it emotional sport and, and, uh, you know, that, that kid, you know, nobody likes to play more than he likes to play. So you’re gonna, you’re gonna see that. And I’ve s, uh, that’s what’s so great about this sport here.

Here’s what the Chiefs may do at running back after losing Isiah Pacheco to injury
An unfortunate initial prognosis for Kansas City Chiefs running back Isiah Pacheco means the back-to-back Super Bowl champions are suddenly looking thin in the backfield. According to a post from NFL Insider Ian Rapoport Monday, Pacheco fractured his fibula during Sunday’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals. That diagnosis means the hard-running offensive energy giver will likely miss 6 to 8 weeks during the 2024 season. Pacheco will undergo surgery this week on his fractured fibula. With a trip to the injured reserve for Pacheco seemingly all but guaranteed, it’s worth wondering who the Chiefs will turn to as their starting running back. A signing or elevation from the practice squad of some kind is likely in the coming week.On Monday, head coach Andy Reid said that the Chiefs will “Go with the guys we have now.
