Karnataka Congress chief DK Shivakumar booked for throwing notes at rally

The Mandya Court on Tuesday booked Karnataka Congress chief DK Shivakumar for allegedly throwing Rs 500 notes during the Praja Dhwani Yatra in Mandya.

During the Congress party’s ‘Praja Dhwani Yatra’ near Bevinahalli in Srirangapatna on March 28, Shivakumar was reportedly seen throwing 500 rupee notes at performers performing at the rally.

After the incident, the Election Commission filed a complaint, on the basis of which an unrecognizable offense was registered against DK Shivakumar. After that, the Congress leader was booked by the Mandya rural police on the order of a local court.

Earlier, on March 29, Shivakumar had expressed his confidence in the preparation of the Congress for the Assembly elections.

“Congress is ready for elections, we want this government removed. The sooner this government is removed, the better for the state and the country. This election will be development oriented and for a state and country free of corruption” . Shivakumar told reporters

Hitting the Bharatiya Janata Party, the head of the state Congress alleged that the party is “compromising corruption” in Karnataka.

“This election will be a model because corruption is at its peak. Prime Minister Modi encouraged corruption and did not open his mouth. He did not take any action against his party leaders. For the sake of the party alone, he is compromising many activities “corrupt. The BJP never gave jobs to the youth. Our clean administration will bring our party to power,” he added.

Karnataka, which has 224 seats in the Assembly, currently has 119 MLAs from the ruling BJP, while Congress has 75 and its ally JD(S) has 28 seats.

On March 29, the Election Commission announced the schedule of the Karnataka Assembly elections. Voting would take place in a single phase on May 10 and the vote count will take place on May 13.
