Kerala Story team meets UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath; Adah Sharma, Sudipto Sen are all smiles

The makers of the controversial ongoing film, ‘The Kerala Story’ met with the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh yogi adityanath. Lead actor Adah Sharma, director Sudipto Sen, producer and creative Vipul Amrutlal Shah were on hand to talk and engage with the political leader. Yesterday the film was declared duty free in Uttar Pradesh. During the meeting, the team discussed the film with CM Yogi and was urged by Vipul Shah to watch the film.

While expressing his gratitude for making the film tax free in UP, director Sudipto Sen shared, “We came to thank the Honorable Chief Minister for declaring the film tax free and giving the citizens of Uttar Pradesh a chance to watch this film. movie”. Producer Vipul Shah also added, “The Uttar Pradesh government and Yogi ji have taken this step and it has raised our morale a lot and strengthened our thinking. It has sent a very powerful message to the people because the public is watching this film in large numbers. So we are very grateful to the CM that it happened.”

The CM and his cabinet colleagues are also likely to see the film at a special screening at Lok Bhawan on May 12. Earlier, Madhya Pradesh had made the film duty free in the state on May 6. The Kerala Story topped ₹50 crore on its fifth day of release, earning ₹11.14 crore on Tuesday at the box office. It has earned Rs 56.86 crore at the domestic box office so far and will open internationally on May 12.

After the movie’s trailer was released, a petition was filed against it for ‘the worst kind of hate speech’ and ‘audiovisual propaganda’. Many political leaders criticized the film, stating that the creators are making false claims that it is a true story and that the number ‘32000 women’ is false.

Since the film was released, the team has been facing backlash for being a propaganda film. However, the filmmakers have continuously denied the comment, sharing that the Hindi film is not “against Muslims or Islam” but rather against terrorism. They made the film to share stories of victims and their families. Vipul Amrutlal also revealed that many people had changed their minds after watching the movie and apologized afterwards.
