Knife-wielding chef screams for Benedict Cumberbatch as he attacks actor’s home

A former hotel chef has pleaded guilty to breaking into the London home of Benedict Cumberbatch in a rage of the knife that left the actor and his family terrified.

Jack Bissell, 35, admitted criminal mischief earlier this month and was fined the equivalent of $310 by a judge, who also imposed a three-year restraining order.

Bissell, who did not defend himself or explain his actions, stood outside the house in north London yelling for the Wonderful star.

“I know you’ve moved here, I hope it burns down”, he yelled, according to The Daily Mail.

Cumberbatch and his wife, Sophie Hunter, were at home with their three children at the time. Bissell reportedly kicked in an iron gate, uprooted a plant from a garden and threw it against a wall. He then spat into an intercom and stabbed it with his fish knife, according to reports.

“Naturally the whole family was absolutely terrified and thought this guy would come in and hurt them,” The Daily Mail reported, citing an unnamed source. “Luckily he never got that far. Benedict and Sophie have spent many sleepless nights since they worried they might be attacked again.”

“The fact that it was a targeted intrusion makes it that much scarier,” the source continued.

Bissell fled before authorities arrived and was later identified via dna in the saliva he left behind. The case was kept secret until The Daily Mail successfully challenged the court restrictions.

Prosecutors reportedly told the court that Bissell bought bread from a local store earlier and told the owner that he planned to break into the home and burn it down.

It is not clear if Bissell. has some connection to Cumberbatch, who married Hunter in 2015 and welcomed three children in 2015, 2017 and 2019. Cumberbatch and his wife have tried to keep their children out of the limelight.

Bissell, a former chef at a prominent restaurant, was arrested in 2015 while protesting UK military aggression against Syria in her underwear. His record also includes convictions for robbery and warnings for crimes against property, public order and drugs, according to the outlet.
