The duo, Amritpal Singh, aka Ammy and Amritk Singh, were caught in an operation early in the morning, as they were arriving at Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) from Manila. The NIA court had issued warrants for their arrest without the possibility of bail against them.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Friday arrested two ‘wanted’ associates of Canada-based ‘listed terrorist’ Arshdeep Singh Dalla.

The duo, Amritpal Singh aka Ammy, and Amritk Singh, both hailing from Punjab, were caught in a morning sting as they were arriving at Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) from Manila, Philippines, where they have been living.

The NIA court in Delhi had issued arrest warrants without bail against them in a case involving the illegal and violent activities of banned organizations in India.

They also have several criminal cases registered against them in Punjab.

LINKED TO KTF, PEETA

NIA investigations revealed that the defendant had allegedly entered into a criminal conspiracy to raise funds for the banned terrorist organization Khalistan Tiger Force (KTF), and also to smuggle weapons, ammunition and explosives across the border.

The defendant had been working for designated terrorist Dalla to promote KTF violent criminal activities in India, NIA sources said.

In association with another notorious search defendant Manpreet Singh alias Peeta, they had allegedly been involved in the smuggling of arms from Pakistan and the recruitment of young men to carry out acts of violence and terror in the country at the behest of the KTF.

They were also allegedly part of an extortion ring to raise funds for the banned team.

Defendants used to identify extortion targets, including businessmen, and then threaten them into parting with large amounts, NIA sources said.

Should the identified targets refuse, the defendant’s associates in India would fire on their homes and other premises.

The arrests were part of the NIA’s ongoing crackdown on individual terrorists and terrorist groups involved in a criminal conspiracy to smuggle terrorist hardware, such as weapons, ammunition, explosives, etc., and raise funds to carry out terrorist acts on Indian soil.
