Law firm Greenberg Traurig expands in the Middle East with an office in Dubai

Sept 5 (Reuters) – Greenberg Traurig said on Tuesday it had received a license to open an office in the United Arab Emirates, marking its latest expansion in the Persian Gulf region this year.

For its new Dubai office, Miami-founded Greenberg Traurig said it hired two real estate and hotel partners from Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner: Stephen Kelly, who led BCLP’s Middle East real estate practice, and Sarah Mahood.

Rebecca Comerford, who worked in Allen & Overy’s on-demand solicitors service equal pointhe also joined Greenberg Traurig’s Dubai office as a lawyer, the firm said.

Kelly and Mahood have worked together for more than a decade, according to their LinkedIn profiles. Before joining BCLP in November 2020, they both worked in the Dubai offices of Dechert and King & Spalding.

A BCLP spokesman did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Greenberg Traurig said he now has 18 lawyers spread across Dubai and Saudi Arabia, where he has an affiliation agreement with the Riyadh-based Khalid Al-Thebity law firm. The firm Khalid Al-Thebity previously worked with squire Patton Boggs.
