The Toronto Maple Leafs got some good news on the injury front Wednesday.
Head coach Sheldon Keefe told reporters that Frederik Andersen‘s lower-body injury doesn’t appear to be overly concerning and the starting netminder is progressing well.
The 31-year-old was a late scratch ahead of the front-half of the Leafs’ back-to-back against the Calgary Flames on Monday. Michael Hutchinson started in his absence, giving up three goals on 37 shots in a 3-0 loss.
Andersen has an 11-3-2 record this season with a 2.69 goals-against average and a .905 save percentage.
In other good news, Keefe said forward Zach Hyman, who also missed Monday’s contest and was listed as day-to-day, will return for the rematch against the Flames on Wednesday and slot in on the team’s first line alongside Auston Matthews and Mitch Marner.
The 28-year-old grinder has 10 points in 18 games this season.
