A deadly outbreak of Listeria has US health officials advising people who are pregnant, elderly or have compromised immune systems to avoid eating sliced deli meat.
The warning comes as investigators work to identify the specific meat products involved in the outbreak.
CDC officials say people at risk should kill the germs by cooking the meat until it’s steaming hot, above an internal temperature of 165 degrees Fahrenheit.
Two people are known to have died in this outbreak, one of them from New Jersey.
At least 28 more have been hospitalized across 12 states, including Pennsylvania.
