London synagogues ‘prepare for possible chemical attack’ as MP issues warning

A programme is underway to protect synagogues in London from a gas or other chemical weapons attack, it has been claimed. The chilling warning comes in the wake of a series of attacks targeting the capital’s Jewish community, including a double stabbing in Golders Green and suspected arson incidents in north London.

Security measures are now being urgently stepped up amid fears the threat could escalate, with sources indicating preparations are being made for the possibility of a large-scale terror attack. The move follows the stabbing of two Jewish men, aged 34 and 76, in Highfield Avenue shortly after 11am on Wednesday. Both victims were taken to hospital and are understood to be in a stable condition. A 45-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.
