Rep. Kay Granger (Texas), a veteran Republican lawmaker and chair of the Home Appropriations Committee, introduced Wednesday that she wouldn’t be in search of reelection.
“As I announce my determination to not search re-election, I’m inspired by the subsequent technology of leaders in my district,” Granger stated in a press release. “It’s time for the subsequent technology to step up and take the mantle and be a powerful and fierce consultant for the folks.”
Granger was first elected to the Home in 1997 after serving because the mayor of Forth Price. She was the primary lady to characterize Texas within the Home and the primary feminine mayor of Forth Price.
The Texas congresswoman stated serving her group has “been the best honor.”
“As the primary feminine Mayor of Fort Price, first Republican United States Congresswoman from Texas, and the primary feminine Republican Appropriations Chair, I’ve been in a position to accomplish extra on this life than I might have imagined, and I owe all of it to my unbelievable household, employees, mates, and supporters,” Granger’s assertion stated.
Granger will serve precisely 28 years within the Home. She was elected to the on Jan. 3, 1997 and her time period will expire on Jan. 3, 2025.
She joins Rep. Debbie Lesko (R-Ariz.), who introduced earlier this month she wouldn’t search reelection, and Rep. Jennifer Wexton (D-Va.) who beforehand launched a press release she wouldn’t be working once more because of well being challenges.
Granger stated she intends to serve the rest of her time period and work with the Home’s new Speaker, Mike Johnson (R-La.) “to advance our conservative agenda.”
