FRANKFURT, May 3 (Reuters) – German airline group Deutsche Lufthansa (LHAG.DE) It said it expected strong demand for vacation travel this summer to fill seats on its planes and help it meet its goals for the full year.
“Continued strong demand gives us confidence for the coming months,” chief financial officer Remco Steenbergen said on Wednesday.
Lufthansa said it still expects to post a significant year-over-year improvement in adjusted earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) for the full year of 2023.
For the first quarter, it posted an adjusted EBIT loss of 273 million euros ($300.96 million), an improvement over a loss of 577 million in the same period last year and broadly in line with analyst consensus of 279 million.
Revenue rose 40% to €7.02bn in the three months to March, though the figure fell short of the consensus of €7.57bn.
