Drivers are facing chaos on the M25 this morning following a massive warehouse fire that could cause “secondary explosions”.
National Highways has reported that the M25 is closed in both directions between J22 (St Albans) and J21A due to a “significant” fire at a commercial premises close to the motorway.
Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue are in attendance and dealing with the incident, with road users encouraged to allow extra time for their journeys.
National Highways warned: “Due to the risk of secondary explosions, smoke and debris affecting the carriageway, the motorway has been closed in both directions as a precaution.”
The transport organisation has issued a diversion route for motorists caught in traffic on the M25.
Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service stated: “We are currently responding to an incident in Ventura Park, Old Parkbury Lane, Colney Street, St Albans.
“If you live locally, we advise to keep doors and windows closed and please avoid the area while emergency crews carry out their work.”
