Major motorway closed after huge multi-vehicle crash – ‘Very serious’

According to National Highways South West, the M5 in Devon is closed southbound between J28 (Cullompton) and J29 (Exeter) following a two-vehicle collision that happened before noon this morning. 

“The southbound carriageway is closed to allow the emergency services to work safely at scene, with our Traffic Officers providing support via traffic management,” it says.

“The northbound carriageway has been temporarily held to allow the attendance of an air ambulance. 

“There are currently no estimates when for road closures are likely to be lifted.”
