Major motorway closed in both directions as overturned lorry sparks chaos

The M6 has been closed in both directions after a lorry overturned on Monday morning.

National Highways said: “The M6 in Cumbria is closed in both directions between J41 Catterlen Interchange (Wigton B5305) and J42 Golden Fleece Interchange (Carlisle A6).

“A lorry travelling southbound has crossed through the central reservation on to the northbound carriageway and overturned.

“Cumbria Police, Cumbria Fire & Rescue and North West Ambulance Services have had units attend. National Highways Traffic Officers and contractors are also attending.”
