A major train accident was averted in Jharkhand’s Bokaro after a tractor crashed into the train gate near the Santhaldih railway junction as the New Delhi-Bhubaneswar Rajdhani express (Train No. 22812) passed from there on Tuesday via the night, a railway official said.

“A tractor crashed the door of the train as it was closing at the Santhaldih railway junction of Bhojudih railway station in Bokaro district. The incident came just days after one of the worst train tragedies in the country at Bahanaga Bazar station in Odisha’s Balasore district, which claimed 278 lives and injured more than 1,100 after an accident involving Bengaluru-Howrah Superfast. Express, Shalimar-Chennai Central. Coromandel Express and a freight train loaded with iron.
