Major UK travel company plunges into liquidation – holidays cancelled

A prominent British travel firm that sold holiday packages to Europe and Southeast Asia has collapsed – with all bookings cancelled, and customers left without refunds.

Regen Central LTD entered liquidation after losing its Air Travel Organisers’ Licensing (ATOL) on January 13. The full extent of the impact on its customers has now come to light. ATOL, a scheme overseen by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), provides passengers with financial protection for package holidays, including refunds or repatriation should a travel company collapse.

However, certain flight packages fall outside ATOL’s coverage, including accommodation-only and non-flight packages, leaving passengers without the same level of refund protection.

The CAA stated: “We understand the company had no outstanding ATOL-protected bookings. Bookings sold as accommodation only, non- flight packages, and flight only bookings for which tickets were issued are not protected by the ATOL scheme. As there are no outstanding ATOL-protected bookings, no refunds will be issued.

“If you believe you are owed a refund for an ATOL-protected booking, under Regen Central Ltd’s ATOL, please contact us via email at claims@caa.co.uk.

The travel operator was founded in 2011 and offered packages to Italy, Bali and Thailand, along with Middle Eastern destinations including Dubai and Saudi Arabia. It previously operated under the trading names One Haji and Umrah, Regen Travels and Oneworld Travels.
