Man (28) arrested on drugs offences following police operation in Belfast city centre

A 28-year-old man has been arrested on a number of drugs offences after a police operation at a residential premises in Belfast city centre.

olice said the officers from the Belfast Central Neighbourhood Policing Team and Paramilitary Crime Task Force made the arrest on Wednesday morning, as they seized a haul of drugs in the city.

PSNI Detective Sergeant Gourley said: “Following a proactive policing operation at residential premises in Belfast City Centre shortly after 11:20am, a quantity of suspected Class A and Class C drugs with an estimated street value of £5,000, a quantity of jewellery and other drugs paraphernalia were seized.

“All of the items have been removed for further forensic examinations.

“A 28 year old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of a Class A controlled drug, possession of a Class A controlled drug with intent to supply, possession of a Class C controlled drug, possession of a Class C controlled drug with intent to supply and handling stolen goods.

“The man remains in police custody at this time.

“Police, working with our partners and communities, are committed to tackling the scourge of this type of criminality.
