A man accused of stabbing to death a three-year-old boy in a Sydney unit will remain in custody while he recovers in hospital from serious injuries.
Nathan Vikatos, 45, was due to appear in Parramatta Local Court on Saturday on a murder charge, but the case was adjourned for two months after a brief mention.
He is accused of killing the boy after police found his body in a unit on Washington Avenue in Riverwood around 4:00 p.m. Wednesday.
A relative had called the police out of concerns for the couple’s well-being.
Charging
Vikatos was also found in the apartment and treated at the scene for self-inflicted injuries.
He underwent surgery and was in stable condition Thursday before being arrested and charged at the hospital the next day.
Police believe the boy’s mother died a few years ago.
The matter was adjourned to the Burwood Local Court on 9 August.
