Man in his 20s found dead in Wirral as cops launch investigation

The death of a man has been confirmed after a explosive teams were called to ‘assess a substance’ at a house. Merseyside Police confirmed they raced to the home in the Wirral on Saturday (October 3) after paramedics called cops at 3:55pm they had found the body of a man in his 20s at the address.

A formal investigation has since been launched, and following preliminary enquiries, his death is being treated as unexpected. Police also confirmed that the Explosive Ordnance Disposal team attended the scene as a precautionary measure to assess and remove substances found inside the property.

Police have stated there is no wider risk to the public at this stage. The man’s next of kin has been notified and a file will be submitted to the Coroner, reports the Liverpool Echo.

A Merseyside Police spokesperson said: “Merseyside Police can confirm that emergency services remain in Oxton today (Sunday 4 October) following a sudden death yesterday.

“Shortly after 3.55pm on Saturday 3 October, North West Ambulance Service reported they had attended a property on Reedville where they had found a man in his 20s sadly deceased inside.

“Merseyside Police has launched an investigation and following initial enquiries, his death is being treated as unexpected. His next of kin has been informed and a file will be passed to the Coroner.

“As a precaution, Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) have attended to assess and remove substances located inside the premises and have deemed there is no wider risk to the public at this stage.”
