The victim died in hospital from severe head injuries two days after the alleged attack.
The victim died from his head injuries on Tuesday morning.
The alleged offender, a 35-year-old man, was arrested by police at Elizabeth Cove on Tuesday and was charged with aggravated assault causing harm.
The man was granted bail and will appear back in Elizabeth Magistrates Court on March 7.
While the men did not know each other, police say it was not a random attack.
Investigations are still ongoing, and police say further charges may be laid.
