Man spots stolen car being paraded on social media

A man whose car was stolen has spotted his vehicle being trashed for entertainment on social media.

Jack Barker has been left helpless and with no answers on the brazen thieves despite multiple videos of his prized possession posted online.

The work ute can be seen doing burnouts on TikTok, with the drivers boasting about it.

It was stolen from a caravan park at Hackney in Adelaide in August, with the hooded thieves caught on CCTV.

Barker is seen in the footage desperately trying to chase them down.

He called them “the dumbest thieves in the world”.

“Don’t put it on social media because hopefully in the next coming weeks you’re going to be behind bars,” he said.

Not having the vehicle has cost his business money.

South Australia Police said the ute had been found at Evanston Park in the city’s north, completely burnt out. The hunt continues for those responsible for the theft.

The latest figures from South Australia Police show car theft and illegal use of motor vehicles are on the rise in the state.

There were 277 offences recorded in June this year and close to 350 offences in October.

The figures are up eight percent on the previous year.
