A manhunt has been launched after an e-scooter rider was stabbed to death in an underpass. Police have launched an urgent investigation following the fatal knife attack on Tuesday (April 28).
The victim, 41, was stabbed in his chest at around 8.30am before being rushed to hospital, where he died shortly after. Police said the stabbing took place in an underpass linking Longdon Close with Martley Close and Woodrow Centre, in Redditch, Worcestershire. A cordon was put in place while forensic teams gathered evidence, and officers are now urging the public for information.
Police have launched extensive enquiries since the stabbing, including conducting house-to-house visits in the area. They have also reviewed CCTV as they continue to track down the offender.
They are now keen to hear from other witnesses or anyone with relevant CCTV or dashcam footage. The force said the victim was wearing dark clothing and was believed to have been riding an e-scooter at the time of the stabbing.
West Mercia Police said officers will conduct increased patrols in the area over the next few days to reassure the community. They are urging anyone with relevant information on what happened to come forward.
Detective Chief Insp Gareth Lougher, from West Mercia Police’s Major Investigations Unit, said: “Officers have been carrying out extensive enquiries since this morning, including reviewing CCTV and conducting house to house visits.
“The victim was wearing dark clothing when he was found and we believe he may have been riding an e-scooter prior to the incident. We would like to hear from anyone who may have seen anyone matching this description in the area.”
He added: “Information that may seem very small could be vital to us establishing how the victim came to suffer the fatal injury.”
