Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) has said Americans should be as “brave” as Italians in opposing COVID-19 mandates following protests in Rome.
Controversial Rep. Greene encouraged Americans to emulate Italians in Rome and protest against vaccine mandates being introduced across the country.
In a tweet uploaded late on Sunday, Rep. Greene shared a viral video of Italians taking to the streets to oppose the country’s Green Pass, which they must show if they want to attend indoor venues, cultural and sporting events.
The green pass is a digital or paper certificate that shows the holder has been vaccinated, has tested negative or has recovered from COVID-19.
Rep. Greene said: “Americans need to be this brave and outspoken while you still can.
“I’m not vaccinated. I’m opposed to the mandates. I already support you, more will when you take a stand. Courage is contagious.”
The Republican’s tweet comes as mass protests against COVID mandates and lockdowns continue to sweep across Europe.
Similar protests and cases of rioting were seen in European Union countries, from Austria to the Netherlands.
Dutch police opened fire on protestors after rioters set fire to vehicles and damaged property during a period of sustained unrest in Rotterdam, the country’s second-largest city.
The decision of Austria’s Chancellor Alexander Schallenberg to take Austria into a national lockdown was met with massive protests numbering in the tens of thousands.

Austria will enter its lockdown on Monday that will last a maximum of 20 days and from February 1, 2022, will require citizens and residents to get vaccinated.
The decision was taken due to the sharp increase in COVID cases and vaccine hesitancy in the country. According to Reuters, Austria is reporting more than 13,400 daily COVID cases.
It also administered at least 12,873,101 doses of the COVID vaccine, enough to vaccinate about 72.5 percent of the population.
Rep. Greene has long been a vocal critic of vaccine and other COVID19-related mandates being introduced for citizens in the U.S.
She is one of many Republicans in the House of Representatives who have objected to mask requirements.
During an appearance with Newsmax’s Chris Salcedo, the Republican said she had been fined $60,500 for not wearing a mask. Rep. Greene’s salary is $174,000
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi decided to keep the mask requirement in place, despite fresh guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, which said masks were not necessary for people who had received two COVID-19 vaccines.
