Massachusetts included in Iceberg lettuce recall tied to Cyclospora outbreak

Taylor Farms is recalling iceberg lettuce shipped to 27 states, including Massachusetts, because of potential Cyclospora contamination.The produce supplier said they’re “actively removing” the affected products and have suspended distribution of the iceberg lettuce from Central Mexico to the United States.The shredded iceberg product was distributed June 29 through July 16 in Alabama, Arkansas, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Maryland, Michigan, Missouri, Mississippi, North Carolina, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia and Wisconsin, according to the Food and Drug Administration.A complete list of the affected products can be found here.Most people infected with Cyclospora develop diarrhea, with frequent bowel movements.The diseases is caused by microscopic, single-celled parasites, which can be found in human feces.
