Meghan Markle faces ‘double standards’ claims over gift to critic

Meghan Markle’s decision to send a gift package to an ‘internet troll’ who made unpleasant comments about the Prince and Princess of Wales flies in the face of her very public campaign against online bullying, Richard Eden has told Palace Confidential. The Daily Mail’s Diary Editor accused the Duchess of being guilty of ‘double standards’ after she sent a controversial social media user, known as The Notorious JTB, an As Ever care package containing candles, honey and a handwritten note. The user, who has amassed a substantial following across Instagram and TikTok, posted about receiving the gifts on Tuesday with the caption: ‘This was definitely not on my 2026 bingo card.’ 

The Notorious JTB posts regular glowing messages of support for Harry and Meghan across his various social media accounts. He also accused the Prince and Princess of Wales of having ‘zero backbone’ in their response to the Andrew-Epstein scandal. Eden said rewarding a person like this is not a good look for Meghan, who recently visited Europe to campaign for children’s online safety. ‘This is outrageous,’ the royal expert fumed.

‘This is someone who is pretty much an internet troll. He has made really unpleasant comments about William and Catherine. ‘He’s been saying nice things about Meghan online though, so she sends him this lovely package with all her goodies. You would have thought she’d done her research to establish who this person is. ‘She’s clearly happy to be associated with this sort of trolling, which does not sit well with her campaign to be kind online… It just seems like strange double standards to me.’

It is unclear whether Meghan, her team or the company sent the influencer the care package. . The claim emerged from the reporting of Rob Shuter, a New York based entertainment journalist. . He said: ‘They have this strategy where Meghan concentrates on making money and Harry does the philanthropic, charity engagements. ‘You can understand a bit of imbalance there and maybe we will see more commercial deals coming from Harry.
